ZMMM Mission House
The Gran Palapa is what the natives call this place due to it's uniqueness and amazing architecture.

The house was built entirely by the natives in the village and uses natural resources from the jungle such as ya'axche (ceiba wood) to create the windows, doors, walls and guano to create the unique grass roof. Located in the heart of the Zona Maya jungle. This house has faced many elements such as hurricanes, drought, and tropical storms through out the year. The place also has plenty of wildlife visitors all year round that you watch and hear at night and during the day such as the native Chachalacas birds that you can hear during the morning as well as parakeets, tucans, and doves that sometimes fly around inside of the house sometimes. As well as your occasional geikos, lizards, etc. And yes, ZMMM also has nasty creatures that sometimes pay us a visit from time to time such as snakes, guano spiders, scorpins, tarantulas, misquitoes.  Of course there is your local animals such as chickens, roosters, pigs, and dogs that roam the streets.

People who come to visit say find the place to be very peaceful and overall quiet unless the neighbors are playing thier radio loud (which happens sometimes) it is a great place to put the phone away and focus on your mental and spiritual health. Even though the place does have wifi but it is not always realible, same goes for the water and electricity, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, but thats part of the missionary experience.

The journey to the Zona Maya is a long one. It may look easy of Google maps but don't let that fool you even with a rental its a long drive and the roads  and traffic make it longer. To come here via public transportation you have to take the second class bus (no bathroom, sometimes has AC and makes fequent stops) either from Cancun, Playa del Carmen or Tulum depending where you are flying into and staying (most people fly into Cancun and taxi or take the bus over to Playa del Carmen) from there you ride the bus to Carrillo Puerto and from there you ride a taxi from Carrillo to Senor and with lugguage and very few restrooms breaks in between the journey can be tiring but rewarding in the end. Especailly when Sister Flora has some of her famous Mayan dishes ready with hot tortillas waiting for you when you arrive.

Here is a list of materials/ items needed for the Zona Maya "Gran Palapa" house to keep it maintained and functioning.

-New Washer (the current doesn't spin anymore).

-New Stove

- roof repairs (this is all year around due to the climate).

-Generator (eletricity goes out sometimes).

-AC Ductless unit for guest bedroom
